Spring in Giverny with Monet
As the temperature starts to get warmer, flowers begin to blossom everywhere around us here in Paris. While it is the appropriate time to rush off to Japan to be in the middle of the cherry blossom, Giverny is, for me, just as beautiful in spring as the cherry blossoms.
Giverny and Monet
Why Monet? Well, Monet lived in his house in Giverny for 43 years. The beautiful garden of this house gave this artist of Impressionism, much inspirations required for his paintings. In fact, one can identify the scenes taken from this garden in his paintings rather easily. Aside from the garden, visitors can have a glimpse inside the house itself decorated with paintings of Monet and the woodblock printing art pieces from Japan.
Popularity and planning for your trip
Giverny is a popular visitor destination in the summer. It welcomes people from all around the world. Hence, it is advisable to plan your trip and to arrive at the entrance early, or else you will be looking at an exceptionally long queue. Tickets are also sold online, so prebook them if you can. However, if you did not pre-book your tickets but are unwilling to wait in line, visit the less crowded art museum first and purchase a combined ticket with the Monet house museum. That way you do not need to wait in line with the others. We also recommend buying a combined ticket with the Museum of Orange in Paris, where one can marvel at the famous and beautiful waterlilies paintings of Monet.
Be realisitc with photographic ambition
It is understandable to want to take as many photos as you can in such a unique place. However, it is almost impossible to take pictures without anyone being in your way. You do not want to be a photo hot-spot hogger too! Therefore it is better to be realistic about your expectations. As many visitors wish to enjoy the beauty of the garden, and it can get really crowded in some parts of the garden, it is best just to click and move on. A little courtesy for others never hurt.
Do not leave it for too long
Although Giverny is beautiful all year round, spring is probably the most beautiful time of the year for a visit. Due to the ephemeral nature of any flower blossoms, it is best to be decisive about visiting Giverny. The flowers and their beauty will not wait for you!
