French craft beers and microbreweries

In recent years, craft beers and microbreweries are gaining popularity in France. Although the French traditionally favors wine, it seems they have discovered their liking for craft beers too. We have visited quite a few microbreweries in France since 2017. The brewers are very friendly and would not hesitate to share their knowledge on how to brew an artisanal beer. On our trip to Toulouse, we decided to visit the 3 Brasseurs, a microbrewery with a restaurant, to try out their award-winning beers. And while we were there, we also sampled some of their delicious meals, which complement so well with their beers.

We were immediately greeted by the brewing tanks when we entered the restaurant. The restaurant was full, so there was a bit of a wait. But while we were waiting, we educated ourselves with the beer brewing process. The brewing area of the restaurant was so well set up that visitors could even smell or touch the different wheat, barley or even the hops that go brewing their beers. The restaurant has a great ambiance, very lively with friendly and efficient staff. We did not have to wait long before we were seated. We found ourselves looking at the Gazette of 3 Brasseurs, which is actually the menu.

The beers

Nothing quench our thirst as well as a beer. Therefore, we began with their beer list. It was not a big list, but you are sure to find a beer that you like. There are blond, amber, while or IPA beers on offer. We decided to go for an IPA, and we did not regret our choice. Their IPA has a floral fragrance and a smooth texture. It was, however, slightly less bitter than most IPA.

The food

3 brasseurs pork ribs with hot sauce and vegetablesThe 3 Brasseurs offers a wide range of choices of food to go with their beers. Being a rib lover, naturally, I went for the pork ribs while my husband chose the country burger. Aside from meat dishes, there are also salads, tacos and a range of other choices to suit your dietary needs or wants. You can also pick your side dishes as well as different sauces to go with your plate. The portion size was slightly big, but the prices were very reasonable.

3 brasseurs country burgerThe ribs were very tender, and the meat was just falling off the bone. A quick look at the country burger, I discovered that instead as 2 pieces of bread, the country burger has a meat patty sandwiched between two thick hash brown. Although the country burger was excellent and the patty was cooked to perfection, I would advise not to choose anything too starchy for your side dishes. However, if you are a potato lover and will be able to fit it all in with french fries on the side, by all means!

Desserts

The choices for desserts are quite extensive too. As we go through the dessert list, it was hard not to give in to temptations. You can have a coffee or tea with 3 or 4 mini desserts on a platter if you wish for just 5.50 Euros. Quite a reasonable price. We would like to try their desserts, but we were too full after finishing our main course.

The overall verdict

The Triton 3 Brasseurs

The Triton

We liked our experience in the 3 Brasseurs. The beers and food are reasonably priced, and it has a good ambiance. If you are planning to go during weekends, maybe it is best to ring and book a place before you go. Did I mention it is also an excellent place to celebrate a special occasion with your mates? If that is the case, you should totally order the Triton, which will definitely quench everyone’s thirst!
